While I know you feel this issue is important, I would be dissapointed if Senator Hobbs decided to address it in a professional capacity. The government does have much more important things to address.

I doubt his political future hinges on his involvement with The Chicken.

I emailed Senator Steve Hobbs regarding our small issue of retaining the Chicken out in front of the Drive-In during the week of the Democratic Caucus' in Seattle. I still to this date have not heard a “peep” from the Senator. So either we can assume the email has met the abyss of a junk mail folder or that he has had bigger “chickens” to fry. From the sounds of it, the Lake Stevens Journal’s owner and editor have also had far better soirees to attend to rather than reporting our small request to keep the tradition of 7.5' fiberglass Chicken going. Unless of course they consider publishing the rude letter from JD Nelson to the editor sufficient coverage. It is interesting that after this story broke 3 networks not a single article was published in the Journal regarding the chicken.

It is my hope, that the fate of next political rally at the polls is not riding on the back of a large chicken. For even in such trivial matters as this, the city officials have only proven a lack of respect for the communities wishes in retaining the chicken out in front of the drive-in. To date our elected officials have not given the community an acceptable response. Dare I say that our politicians are out of touch and in our pockets. I question how I will vote for the new Sno-Isle Library, which will take away yet another day’s wages to taxes, when our city can’t even grant us the mere enjoyment of seeing the Chicken everyday. Let alone giving our children something to look forward to other than the WASL and drugs.
